Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 25, 2026

Short version: Mezze is free. We collect only what we need to run a neighbor coordination app. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Your data is stored on servers in the European Union.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Romir Gade, an individual based in New Jersey, United States, operating the Mezze app. Mezze is not a registered company. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@mezze.app.

2. Information we collect

We do not intentionally collect special-category data (e.g., health, religion). Please don't post such information about yourself or others.

3. How we use your information

We do not use your data for third-party advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, we rely on:

5. Who can see your information

We do not sell or "share" your personal information for advertising, and we do not serve ads.

6. Where your data is stored & international transfers

Mezze's servers are located in the Netherlands (European Union). Because Mezze is operated from the United States, your data may be accessed from the U.S. to run and support the service. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses). If you access Mezze from outside the EU, your data will be processed on EU-based servers.

7. Cookies & similar technologies

We use only the cookies needed to make the app work — not for advertising or cross-site tracking:

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

8. How long we keep your data

We keep your account and content while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited information to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups are rotated and expire over time. Direct-message history follows the retention described in the app.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information (as those terms are defined under California law), so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still contact us to exercise your rights.

10. Deleting your account

You can delete your account and personal data at any time, directly in the app under Settings → Delete account (you'll confirm with your password). You can also request deletion by emailing privacy@mezze.app. Deletion is immediate and permanent: it removes your profile, posts, cravings, direct and group messages, karma, and community memberships. This cannot be undone. We may retain limited records only where the law requires (see Section 8), and routine backups expire on their normal rotation.

11. How we protect your data

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including HTTPS in transit, password hashing, CSRF protection, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where the law requires.

12. Children

Mezze is an adults-only service. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account — or older, where the age of majority in your country is higher than 18 — and we assume every account belongs to an adult.

Mezze is not directed to children or teenagers, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under that age. If you believe someone under age has given us personal data, contact privacy@mezze.app and we'll delete the account and its data.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We'll update the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Mezze after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
